In our hearts, all kinds of custom framed artwork have their place. Yet nothing beats an original painting on canvas when you’re searching for unique texture and craftsmanship.
Simply Framed provides a collection of stunning, traditional canvas float frames specifically crafted for canvas paintings to help shine your artwork. The timeless frames feature a thin profile and a space of 1⁄4 ‘around the edge of the piece, which elegantly, minimalistly highlights the texture of the canvas.
For paintings with a subdued color scheme, our White Canvas Float system is a common option. (Not sure how to pick your piece ‘s correct wood frame? See our handy guide here.)
An initial photograph of the Blue Lagoon in Iceland was taken by blogger Brynn Elliott Watkins and converted into wall-ready art by custom framing it in our White Canvas Float frame. Although we don’t currently give canvas printing, you are welcome to get your own printed canvas made and send it to us for framing!
Natural’s Canvas Float frame blends beautifully into a more rustic part space, and is perfect for those who like to see some wood grain.
You will want to follow these main steps to ensure the best results for sending in unstretched canvas for framing, no matter which form of floating frame for canvas you choose:
Be sure to unstretch your canvas. Email us the depth and height of your canvas, if it’s already on a stretcher, to see if we can fit it in one of our frames.
To fit stretcher bars, make sure that you have 3-4 “of extra canvas around the sides of your piece. To wrap your piece around the stretcher bars, this excess canvas is required for us, and will not show on the front surface of your finished framed piece.
The maximum measurement of your painting that will appear on the front surface of your finished framed piece should include the measurements of your work. The extra 3-4 “of canvas that we need to wrap your piece does not include art dimensions.
Roll your unstretched canvas vertically (versus horizontally) carefully to place the weight on the outer edge rather than the foot. To mitigate the risk of injury, keep the roll loose and the paint on the outside. (This may sound counterintuitive, but it can cause the paint to crease or wrinkle by rolling the paint on the inside.)
Using the packing materials we have sent for your Full Service order, carefully prepare and send your piece of canvas our way, and from there we will take it! Soon you’ll have a painting of canvas expertly stretched and custom framed, ready to hang in your home.
You will be happy to know that we also offer a Frame Only canvas option if you are the DIY kind or would prefer not to ship your canvas for any reason! “Make sure to add 1⁄4” of float space on either side between the outer edge of your artwork and the inner edge of your Canvas Float frame when measuring art measurements for a Frame Only order, in addition to the maximum measurement of your painting that will appear on the front surface of your finished framed piece.
